My Treasure Chest

My style is eclectic and ranges from fun Cali-chic to polished professional with an ultra femme edge. I love colors, prints and fun textures. Last but definitely not least, accessories! Occasionally, my outfit will completely revolve around a key accessory.

What makes dressing fun for you?
I know why its fun for me! Each morning I approach my closet like it's a store. I pull together my outfit with fresh inspiration. Sometimes I can't even remember the outfit because it's so spontaneous. This spontaneity is what I love the most! I cherish my closet; my treasures I've gathered over time. Picture your closet as a giant jewelry box and pick your gems wisely!

Every Fashionista has her own set of guidelines when it comes to finding the pieces to add to her precious collection. Through the years, I've evolved my own.

1. Don't buy anything you don't truly love, love, love.
2. Know the difference between a flash trend and a good one.
3. Know when to opt for colors and when to stick to classics.
4. Be patient. Growing your collection takes time to fit your personal style.
5. Be eclectic. Never, EVER buy any one full outfit in one store.

I've featured a few shots of my (humble) closet below and then some famous closets totally worth coveting. To 'shop' in those closets every morning...a girl can dream, right??

'I Love LA': Fashion District

I headed downtown to check out the Fashion District in action. Admittedly, it is my first time there. With hours from Mon-Fri for most of the shops and roughly 30% opened on Saturday; today was the perfect day to catch this district at its best. The shopping is incredible. Ridic finds and bargain treasures galore! It's definitely a place where you look through a whole lot of junk and come across treasures, like some items featured below. Other secrets to the Fashion District is stumbling upon up and coming designers through wholesale and sample sales.

Finds: woven hemp and colored yarn bracelets I got for $1 each, art deco square wood ring, nouveau-inspired earrings, scarf, floral bib necklace with tie-back ribbons, comfy leggings at prices that cannot be beat, platforms in prep for Spring and even a cute striped hoody for my yorkie Cody, so he can discover his hipster self!

Santee Alley, Downtown Los Angeles.
Hemp & colored yarn bracelets.
Floral bib necklace with ribbon ties-inspiring me to start a DIY necklace project!
Avoided bright colors & opted for a more classic version of this 'hipster' scarf.
Art Nouveau inspired earrings.

enchanté

“It’s always happy hour somewhere…” and I’m jonesing for a cocktail. [Of fashion, design & lifestyle topics served (extra) dry, strong and poignant.] A perfect martini.

If that gets you as excited as holiday drink season at Starbucks, then stay tuned for more to come on my blog. For now follow my stream of consciousness on twitter @royalchanenbaum.

They say the best way to get to know someone is over a drink. Cheers!
